Own Delight's Shelties News
Last News My mother mrs. A. ten Cate-Delo received April 8th 2006 a Golden (pin)Brooch from the Dutch Kennel Club for her merits as a Sheltie breeder and for serving the Dutch Sheltie Club and a local Dog Obedience Club for more than 25 years.
My mother started breeding in 1975. Now after more than 30 years she only has bred the 5th generation of Shelties.
She bred a litter when she had the intention to keep a dog. Every generation produced a Show Champion. The latest Champion Own Delights Pascal won Best in Group 1 at a CACIB show in 2003. The (probably)last Sheltie my mother bred, Own Delights Queen, got last week her third CC. My mother didn’t only show her dogs. She also had 8 Shelties with Obedience grades and agility grades. Her dogs are tested for eye diseases since 1976. So also health issues are important.
In the local dog club she was involved in the obedience training in different ways.
After many years of being very active in the Dog World she is honoured with a token of gratitude by the Kennel Club.
Only a few people get this honour and only after many years.
I am very proud at my mother. She is now 74 and still active in the show ring and still otherwise involved in the Dog World. To be honest I am amazed about her flexibility. Last November she nearly died after an operation.
Now she is back in the showring.
