DISCO NEVER DIED...Dance-l.gif (16855 bytes)

Disco music is the music which has survived every negative comment from people who thought that disco was only a temporary thing. It's still alive in the music today.

Disco began in my opinion in the sixties with the motown sound, but it came in a rapid in the early and mid-seventies when Mr. Tom Moulton made long versions of the popular songs in the disco's. When Salsoul made the 12" single commercial in 1976 the public became more aware of the disco music.

When the movie 'Saturday Night Fever' came out the disco music became less popular in the clubs, but more popular in the charts, even Rod Stewart, the Rolling Stones, Dolly Parton and many non-disco artists made disco records.

When in the early eighties people thought disco died other kind of disco became popular, such as Lime, Patrick Cowley and disco went on in the high energy sound and the Stock Aitken & Waterman sound. Later in the eighties the Chicago-sound came on and in my opinion it's also a kind of disco.

Even now in the new century disco is still there:Spiller, Phats & Small, and off course all the dance-mixes of Madonna, Britney Spears, Anastacia, Janet, Ricky Martin, etc. they all make disco-music.So as you can see disco is not dead it's still alive!!!!!!!

WHO I AM...

I'm Peter van Roomen from The Netherlands.

I'm a collector of 12" singles and albums of disco/dance music, mostly of the late seventies and early eighties.

In the past twenty years I've collected about 5000 12" singles, but I'm always looking for titles which aren't in my collection yet. I found out that many dance classic records are originally released on 12" single-promo's or commercially.

My second hobby is air-cooled Volkswagens.

I have two beetles, a type 3 fastback and working on a '62 bus.
