In the Disco era there were many classics done by singers who are known as real disco divas. Some of them were GLORIA GAYNOR, MARTHA WASH, JOCELYN BROWN, and CHAKA KHAN. There are however some which didn't get the fame they deserved some choose to be not as known as the ones I mentioned and some didn't.
One of the less known divas is IZORA ARMSTEAD. She began her career in disco as a background singer for SYLVESTER together with MARTHA WASH. A few years later the two girls went on with their own group TWO TONS O' FUN. They brought out two albums. On the first album were some huge disco classics as "I GOT THE FEELING", EARTH CAN BE JUST LIKE HEAVEN" and "DO YOU WANNA BOOGIE HUNHH"
Another year later the group became known as THE WEATHER GIRLS. We all know the classic "IT'S RAINING MEN", which made the grils world famous. The song was by the way first offered to BARBRA STREISAND & DIANA ROSS.
Today IZORA ARMSTEAD is a mother of eleven children!
